Experience and celebrate your city at nightLight Night

a project co-ordinated by the Association of Town Centre management

Bury

Friday 14th October 2011

It's looking like a beautiful night.

Visit Bury on Friday 14 October and see the town centre in a whole new light! From 5pm until late, venues across the town will open their doors and invite you to enjoy a wonderful mix of arts, music, performance, workshops, tours and much more, with plenty to entertain explorers of all ages and interests. And the good news is - it's nearly all free!

You can expect happenings from the strange to the spectacular including giant wandering birds, illuminating projections and charming lantern displays. Get whisked away to a magical world of captivating characters with a trip down cobbled Crompton Street and uncover a world of crime and mystery at the Fusilier Museum.

Wander round Bury's first ever late night specialist market, take a walk through St John's magical fire garden, make the most of late night shopping and be surprised as magical characters emerge to light up the dark nights.

We will be shedding new light on familiar buildings and locations and opening up some you may not have experienced before. This is your chance to rediscover the town as a space for creativity showcasing the work of artists, performers and organisations both established and emerging. We invite you to come and enjoy this ‘after hours' celebration of Bury's cultural wealth.

We think you'll find that buses or trams are the best way to get to Bury Light Night - with direct services to Bury from most surrounding areas and further afield. Visit the Transport for Greater Manchester website www.tfgm.com to find out which is the best service for you. You'll find information about fares and a journey planner for all public transport in the region. Alternatively, phone Traveline on 0871 200 2233 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras).

We would like to thank everybody involved for the huge amount of time and effort they have put in to make Bury's first Light Night possible. We could not do it without you! A big thanks is also extended to our volunteers who will helping us on the night.
