CHRISTMAS LIGHT NIGHT 2011
Friday 2 December, 5.00pm - 10.00pm

Join us on Friday 2 December 2011 as we celebrate the spectacular start of Christmas in Oxford with the city's annual event Christmas Light Night. Over the course of the evening, visitors will watch as the city's Christmas Lights are switched on and the historic centre of the city is illuminated by a magical lantern procession. Later in the evening a moving sound sculpture Unsilent Night will use shimmering bells, chimes and grand chorals to transform the streets into a winter wonderland. Revellers will also have the chance to visit Oxford's Castle, Town Hall, theatres and museums as they open their doors again to the public for special one-off late night viewings of their exhibitions and displays.

Christmas Light Night in Oxford is being co-ordinated by Oxford Inspires, Oxford City Council and Ian Nolan Events Ltd s on behalf of communities and cultural organisations across the city. The key partners for the event are the Ark-T Centre, OCM (Oxford Contemporary Music) and Oxford Castle.

Exciting activities will be taking place in many of the city's cultural venues, including the Pitt Rivers Museum, the Ashmolean Museum, the Bodleian Library, the Museum of the History of Science, Oxford Playhouse, Oxford Castle, the Museum of Oxford and Town Hall, St Michael at the North Gate, St Ebbe's Church, the Old Fire Station, Modern Art Oxford, the Story Museum, the O3 Gallery, the Jacqueline du Pre Music Building and the Oxford Hub. OCM, OFVM, OVADA, Creation Theatre Company and Oxford Improvisers will also be taking part in the celebrations.
